ANZAC Day...

could just be a more important national day than Australia Day. The city swelled this morning with crowds and the best part was that not one single shop was open, just pubs and cafes. Today is actually the first time I have experienced the ANZAC parade in Sydney City and I could not help but feel an amazing sense of pride and admiration as I reflected on the many meanings of war and its effect on us all.

While I was standing there in the rain my thoughts then turned to comfort food (as I tend to do). I was thinking about how good a fresh batch of ANZAC biscuits would be. I remember them from when I was a child and my Mum protecting the biscuits from little fingers as the hot baking tray was pulled from the oven. Everyone knows that the best time to eat one of these biscuits is when they are still hot and chewy. I reckon a mobile van with an oven freshly baking these for the punters would have just been fantastic on this cool, damp and grey Sydney ANZAC day.

Hi Muz, how right you are about ANZAC Biscuits, they would go down a treat with a hot brew on a cool morning like todays. I was fortunate enough to be near the front of the March and was well and truly finished and inside enjoying a beverage when the rain started. Enjoy the rest of your weekend. Pete

mmmm yes, Appreciation. Its like putting a dolop of nourishing compost around a sapling and watering it in deeply - Appreciation tends the growth of the aminate and inanimate. I don't do it enough. So I appreciate your thoughts Muz.
Thanks.

Uncle Steve.

I'm very jealous... your ANZACs look way more appetising than the batch I made did... granted I think it's the first time I've ever made them, but they were a bit of a disaster... you're right though, they are much better fresh out of the oven.

On a whole other track, if that's a white galah on your new balcony in your flickr thing, then I think I actually have a photo of your apartment... I took what looks like a very similar shot with the galah on the balcony rail when I was there ;)
